Daily Discovery on American Songwriter: “Abducted”
March 10, 2015
Songspace featured “Abducted” on American Songwriter. Read the Q & A here!
“I WROTE THIS SONG: On my couch with my right hand man, Michael. We had watched a documentary about alien abductions on Netflix (Ooo la la). Now, a lot of those stories were pretty out there haha, BUT the idea that extraterrestrial life exists and “checks us out” is definitely believable to us. So we started to write a song about a girl who was more than ready for her trip into outer space. She falls for an alien with big eyes and a cowboy smile, and well the rest is history. No really, it is history, pretty sure we ripped this story off of some ancient Egyptian drawing…”

The Daily Krapht – Stacey Randol – “Abducted”
March 3, 2015
“Who’s ready for an extraterrestrial dance party? Stacey Randol definitely is and will have you reaching for your boogie shoes with her latest single, “Abducted”. Just released today, “Abducted” is different stylistically from what we’re used to hearing from the Nashville sweetheart, but still filled with her trademark personality. The track, put simply is about being abducted and loving all that our friends in space have to offer, all set against a gentle disco-inspired melody. From beginning to end, the track is a fantastic and fun journey worthy of many repeated listens.”

“Fragile Forest” On Daytrotter’s Best Songs of 2014 Countdown
December 25th, 2014
“We posted just shy of 1200 sessions in the year of 2014 and those sessions amounted to almost 5000 new songs to our monster-like archive. It’s an impossible task whittling that chunk of goodness down to 300, but we tried our best. Without a doubt, we left some great ones out, but we are only men. We kick the list off with the incredible Steve Gunn, topping a what we think is a killer capsule of our work from this past year. Enjoy! — Mr. Daytrotter”

Lockeland Springsteen’s Favorite Local Songs of 2014 – #5 “Fables”
December 16th, 2014
“5. Stacey Randol, “Fables” ::: I’ve had my eye on Stacey Randol for a while now – there’s something about her sweet, choral folksongs that have a thick layer of moody melancholy buried beneath striking poetic lyrics and unique orchestration that stands out in a crowded Americana mass. And “Fables,” the first song off of her album of the same name, stopped me in my tracks. “Don’t get down, that’s just how I am wound,” she sings, her vocals mixed to expose every little syllable, “I don’t belong where I am needed.” Like Stevie Nicks meets Fleet Foxes, the mood set by the track is nearly as evocative as the storytelling – you can see it move in like a steady fog, you can feel it envelop you. A true masterpiece hits on all your senses – I’ve never been one to believe that music’s just for the listening. This one touches them all. – MRM”

The Daily Krapht – “Hometown”
December 10th, 2014
“Nashville darling and contender for Wordkrapht’s MFA award (“Most Featured Artist”), Stacey Randol recently released a new video for her song, “Hometown”. In complete DIY fashion, Randol directed, shot and compiled all the charming footage together to create this lovely music video. The song and video go hand-in-hand to ask that age old question, “Do you choose your hometown, or does it choose you?”

Daily Discovery on American Songwriter: “Hometown”
December 10th, 2014
“My main message in the song is the line, “Do you choose your hometown or does it choose you?” Some people travel, some people settle, some people find what they are looking for, some people don’t. But you have a choice to feel at home or not. And feeling at “home” doesn’t just mean finding a city you enjoy. “Home” can be a person, hobby, lifestyle, pet, etc. It was one of those rewarding quick writes that felt extremely natural to get down on paper.”

Ear To The Ground Music – Album Review
July 5th, 2014
“Stacey Randol has a unique sound that does not fit easily into any genre, but dances around between them. Her words are light on their feet and filled with poetic landscapes which will captivate the imagination. As an added bonus, she plays the banjolele which I believe to be an extremely underused instrument. If you like quiet mornings or evenings, dancing in the rain, looking up at the sun from under water, simple pleasures in life, or long drives through the wilderness-you will probably love the music of Stacey Randol.”

Lockeland Springsteen Album Review – Nashville Five
April 11th, 2014
“Don’t get down, that’s just how I am wound,” sings Stacey Randol on her song “Fables,” the title track from her new EP. It’s a haunting, exquisitely layered anthem that conjures the vintage gauze of Beach House, the choral muse of Fleet Foxes and the rich complexity of Fleetwood Mac into a track that’s one of my favorite local releases of the year thus far – Randol’s voice is deep in tone and perfectly-annunciated, punching each note and syllable clear into the sky, echoing effortlessly, boosted up by ethereal strings and subdued chimes.

Wordkrapht writes, “Releasing her second album Fables in February 2014 she has proven that she is one to watch won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. This bright upbeat album at times seems to be almost a window into parts of this young songwriter’s life in one way or another. Whether it is singing lyrics about life experiences she encountered personally or recanting stories of people she has encountered along the way, you will always find a common thread in her music- it is real.”

Music News Nashville – Stacey Randol ‘Fables’ Album Review By Chuck Dauphin
April 3rd, 2014
“Spend any amount of time with the latest disc from Stacey Randol, and you just might be transported back in time to the the music of Roy Orbison. At least, that’s what Fablessounds like to me. Does the album sound straight out of a Monument Records session with Fred Foster behind the glass circa 1964? Not exactly, but Randol seems to have that melancholy sadness that Orbison excelled in so much down pat.” – Chuck Dauphin (Music News Nashville)

American Songwriter – Daily Discovery – Fables
March 20th, 2014
American Songwriter and Songspace interview Stacey on her latest single, “Fables.”
“I didn’t have a particular idea in mind when sitting down to write, but “out here it is getting hot, dear /did I ever love you? / think about it” came out first. And that felt like I was almost writing a letter to someone, so I continued the situation from there. The chorus came to me quickly and was oddly enough inspired by Cher’s “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves.” And “fables and our lies” just came out of my mouth like it already belonged. I knew then that I wanted to make a record around Fables.”

The Daily Krapht – Video Feature & Review of “Treat Her”
September 23, 2013
” “Treat Her” is the new video and song by Stacey Randol. The song and video are very minimalistic, which in this case works out beautifully. Randol’s sweet serenading vocals, a little acoustic guitar, and a touch of electric guitar riffs (compliments of Michael McBurnett) here and there and we have one magnificent combination and song. There’s a touch of old country woven throughout that adds heart and soul to really make the song soar. Like any good country song, “Treat Her” gives some advice on how to treat a lady and win her heart. Any fellas who need some help in that department are strongly urged to listen more than once and take notes. “

American Songwriter – Daily Feature
February 12th, 2013
American Songwriter writes, “Stacey Randol is a pop artist that sprinkles in some folk for good measure. Her influences span the past and present, a list including Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, Harry Nilsson, Vampire Weekend, Angus & Julia Stone, Beach House, and Brandi Carlile. All great American songwriters, we see “Fragile Forest” channeling Carlile in the best of ways, both lyrically and musically.”

Lockeland Springsteen – In Their Own Words
Stacey Randol on Nashville’s Hippie Radio
February 6th, 2013
“Like many music lovers, I am constantly playing music no matter where I am. Many times I like to be in control of what I am listening to. In the car, I have a ton of CDs crammed into little compartments. Putting them in the perfect condition to scratch and skip.
In the past few years, I haven’t been much of a radio listener. When I would turn on FM radio, I would check out what Lightning 100 was playing—and either I would like the song playing or go back to a CD. But this past summer I found an alternative where I could let go and get surprised. Thank goodness Nashville now has Hippie Radio—94.5 FM.”

Awaiting the Flood – Album/Single Review
May 19th, 2012
“The entirety of Steady Rhythm inspires happy thoughts, even through the darkest of subjects, which is probably something Stacey herself likes to promote. Quick with a smile and a laugh, it’s easy to see she likes to inspire strength and self-confidence in her listeners. She also, frankly, loves the beach, as her tropical-tinged songs will attest. It’s hard not to smile through the pain. She mixes things up a bit with her latest single, Fragile Forest, without sacrificing her rich, sweet sounds. Leaving the beach behind, this serious tune still features her inimitable writing, as well as strong folk roots, like Joan Baez with a spoonful of honey. She sings, Whisper your secret of trusting spring to come, personifying nature almost as a lover, giving life and breath to the world we’re killing. It’s beautiful poetry, sung with beautiful voice, cementing her spot among female songwriters, even if you haven’t heard of her yet…”

“Post-graduation in Nashville, Randol found work in a radio station’s marketing and advertising department and constructed the band she plays with today, which features several friends and Millikin grads, such as Doug Neff, Clint Van Grevenhof and Amy Marx. Throughout, work had been underway on the writing and construction of her sonically rich, full-length debut album, “Steady Rhythm,” which was released in mid-July. “It represents me and my life right now, and all the optimism that I have for the future,” Randol said. “I went in wanting an album of color, vibrance and fun, but with some sentimental value as well.””
